Service Agreement

This contract is an agreement between Furmiliar Comfort and 'Client' for pet care services beginning on 'Start Date' and thereafter on an as-needed basis.

Policies & Terms

  1. Rates: Rates are based on selected services and the duration of services requested. Detailed estimates will be provided before services are agreed upon and scheduled. Rates for subsequent services are subject to change.
  2. Authorized Services: Client authorizes Furmiliar Comfort to perform pet care services as outlined in Client Information, Pet Information, Veterinary Release, and Estimate, which shall become part of this contract. Prior to any future pet care services, Client agrees to notify Furmiliar Comfort of any changes to the information on these forms.
  3. Payment: Payment in full is required prior to, or at the time of, the first visit.
  4. Emergency Care: In the event that pet(s) require immediate medical attention, Furmiliar Comfort will attempt to contact the Client prior to obtaining emergency care. However, Client agrees that the pet sitter has the authority to act in the pet’s best interest, even if this means seeking medical attention prior to notification. Client agrees to reimburse Furmiliar Comfort for any fees and/or expenses incurred during emergency or veterinary care.
  5. Inclement Weather/Natural Disaster/Act of War: In the event of inclement weather, natural disaster, or act of war, Furmiliar Comfort is entrusted to use best judgment in caring for pet(s) and home. Client acknowledges that Furmiliar Comfort may need to adjust services under these circumstances.
  6. Personal Emergency: In the event of a personal emergency or illness of the pet sitter, Client authorizes Furmiliar Comfort to arrange for another qualified individual to fulfill agreed-upon responsibilities. Client will be notified if this occurs.
  7. Key Handling: Client may authorize Furmiliar Comfort to securely retain their keys for future services. If keys are returned, a $10.00 pick-up fee will apply for future services.
  8. Locksmith Services: Client authorizes Furmiliar Comfort to use locksmith services in the event of a lock, key, or automatic door opener malfunction. Client agrees to reimburse related costs within 7 days and holds Furmiliar Comfort harmless for consequences related to locksmith activities.
  9. Extra Services: Charges for unplanned services are due within 7 days of completion. An invoice detailing additional charges, including receipts, will be provided upon completion.
  10. House Cleanliness: Furmiliar Comfort will clean up after pets to the best of their ability. Excessive cleanup may incur additional charges based on time spent. An invoice will be provided in such cases.
  11. Arrival and Departure Confirmation: Client agrees to confirm departure day/time prior to leaving and notify Furmiliar Comfort upon returning to ensure the safety of their pets. Changes to the return schedule must be communicated promptly.
  12. Cancellation Policy: A minimum 48-hour notice is required for cancellations. Late cancellations (less than 48 hours’ notice) will result in a charge of 50% of the service fee.
  13. Video Surveillance: Client agrees to inform Furmiliar Comfort of any surveillance cameras on the property. Cameras must not be active in restrooms or, during overnight visits, in the sitter’s designated sleeping area and bathroom. Videos of Furmiliar Comfort staff may not be shared on social media or other public platforms without consent.
  14. Pet Photos: Client authorizes Furmiliar Comfort to take photos of pet(s) for identification and updates during visits. Photos may be used in marketing materials, excluding personal information or identifying factors. Clients preferring not to have photos used publicly must inform Furmiliar Comfort in advance.
  15. Visit Times: Scheduled visit times are approximate and may vary based on the needs of all pets under Furmiliar Comfort’s care.
  16. Privacy Policy: Client information will remain private and confidential. Furmiliar Comfort recommends informing a trusted neighbor of pet care services during absences.
  17. Thermostat Settings: Clients should set thermostats within 68-78°F for the health and comfort of their pets. Furmiliar Comfort reserves the right to adjust settings if necessary.

Liability

  1. Service Standards: Furmiliar Comfort agrees to provide services in a caring, responsible manner. Client waives and relinquishes claims against Furmiliar Comfort, except those arising from negligence. Concerns must be reported within 24 hours of the Client’s return.
  2. Emergency Contact: Client must provide contact information for themselves and an authorized representative to handle emergencies. If neither can be reached, Client accepts decisions made by Furmiliar Comfort regarding pet care or property.
  3. Visitors: Client must inform Furmiliar Comfort of any visitors expected during service dates. Unauthorized entries will result in the police being notified. Furmiliar Comfort is not liable for damages caused by visitors.
  4. Outdoor Access: Furmiliar Comfort is not liable for pets with unsupervised outdoor access.
  5. Unpredictability of Animals: Due to animal behavior unpredictability, Furmiliar Comfort is not liable for mishaps (e.g., refusal of medication, escapes, or damage to property). Client assumes liability for third-party injuries or damages caused by their pet(s).
  6. Aggressive Pets: Services may be refused or canceled for pets with a history of aggression. Client is responsible for medical expenses and damages resulting from bites or injuries caused by aggressive pets.
  7. Vaccinations: Proof of current vaccinations must be provided. Client is responsible for costs incurred due to exposure to diseases from unvaccinated pets.
  8. Future Services: This signed contract remains valid for future services without requiring additional signatures.
